E is for Education

E is for Education
This quote sums up how I feel about Education and my children and especially my Autistic child. "If a child Can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn."

Education within the Autistic community can be a hot topic. Everyone always has their own opinion on how you should teach an Autistic child. But after self containing my son, mainstreaming my son and doing ABA with my son. I have come to realize that quote is soooo true. We truly need to teach a child the way they learn. Lets forget what we think we know about education. And lets really look at the child and evaluate how they learn.

D is for Diagnoses

D is for Diagnoses

Getting any kind of diagnoses can be such an scary experience for anyone. I know it was for me when I started getting diagnosed for the multiple disabilities that I suffer from. C is for Controversy

 C is for Controversy

This was actually a hard letter for me to figure out. Finding a word that could be themed around Autism. I have a lot of ideas for the rest of the Alphabet. But I am not sure why I drew a blank with this letter. I am going with C is for Controversy. I guess the reason I have and how I can apply this to Autism my theme for the month is that there just is a lot of Controversy when it comes to Autism. Between is Autism over diagnosed, what causes Autism, diets, therapies, and various treatments. There is always arguments, there is always debate. In fact many times you

B is for Bullying

B is for Bullying

Bullies where always a huge fear of mine for my son in school. Well actually for both my children. Lets face it any time a child is different then someone else in some way bullies are always there to make them feel left out. It could be because of a disability, faith, race, financial status, jealousy even. My children have been the victim of bullying sad to say. Both for different reasons. For my daughter its usually because another person is jealous for some reason or even

A is for Acceptance

A is for Acceptance

Year after year we are raising Awareness for Autism, giving money to Autism $peaks, talking, walking and chalking. Yet we are not listening. We are not listening to those who are of the Autism community. We are not hearing their voices. Have we asked them how they feel about Autism? How it effects them daily? If they want to even be cured? Lets face it as parents we just want to see our children happy and healthy. But there is this small part of parents who want their child to be normal. But let me ask you something what is normal? And let me ask you something else. If we get rid of Autism what would the current world look like? We would not have Einstein, DaVinci, Temple Grandin and yes even Steven
